The Register has been hacked [UPDATE]

September 4th, 2011 No comments

It seems that The Register has been infringed. The homepage has been replaced with a page in red and black, and apparently seems to have been a hacker turkish.

of ilsoftware.it

In the last few hours who tried to visit some websites of big-name companies (including Vodafone, UPS, Acer, The Telegraph, National Geographic e The Register), we have seen to redirect the browser to a web page set up by a turkish hacker. Even when we are writing the article a few websites are completely unreachable by all the major Italian Internet Service Provider.
According to preliminary estimates, could be about 200 Web sites targeted by the attack turkish (The full list is available at this address).

The attack was clearly focused on the authoritative DNS server that the Web sites targeted use to indicate the correspondence between the address “mnemonic” and the server's IP or the machines are located where their pages.

The administrators of some sites were immediately activated to solve the problem that it should be within 72 hours, as soon as the DNS is correct will be propagated back.

The details about the incident are not yet known (do not know if it was exploited a vulnerability not healed ISP side): the only link between the various domains, However,, is the fact that they were registered by addressing to the Danish company.
Once the intruder can successfully attack a DNS authoritative, these can become automatically redirect all visitors to a web site of your choice. These “raids” usually not easy to implement but are usually possible due to some “weakness” configuration technique used by companies that register domain names (“register”).

Old Worm Conficker is still a threat

February 2nd, 2011 No comments

RedEaredSlider writes
“The Worm Conficker is still a threat, even if it's been over two years since its release and still no one has used a botnet attack. The problem is that many machines are infected (largely because many do not know) and so it is very flexible as malware“.

As I said in 2 My Articles, especially for Windows PCs, you must secure an AntiVirus (Installation and configuration of the free Avira Antivir) ea AntiMalware (Clean up your PC from Malware by Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware).

Finally I will conclude this series of articles soon about optimizing windows other 3 software on as many items are very important to keep in your toolbox.
