An open source business intelligence for Brussels Airport

February 2nd, 2011 No comments

Brussels Airport has replaced the solutions business intelligence (BI) Oracle and IBM, with an open-source solution provided by Pentaho.

The solution will replace the reporting software for Oracle and the extraction, processing and loading of IBM, and saving approximately £ 300,000 compared to proprietary solutions.

The deployment came after 2 years of trials and tests that saw Pentaho BI Suite Enterprise Edition against rival systems from IBM, SAP, MicroStrategy e Information Builders.

The group said it chose Pentaho than other solutions, because he was able to provide daily snapshots from their data warehouse and reporting consistent across the company at a price much lower than other solutions.

The system will provide Pentaho data integration, analysis, reporting tools and dashboards. Four departments – finance, Commercial, Operations and Information Technology – will benefit systems “agile BI”.

These services provide information management daily, weekly and monthly, the ad hoc analysis and dashboards, replacing Excel spreadsheets, and about 200 report scheduled for Oracle Hyperion.
