Iphone less popular Android

December 14th, 2010 2 comments

Andy Rubin, Google VP of Engineering and responsible for the development of open source platform Android for the mobile market states that are activated every day 300 thousand phones based on Android OS.

This is equivalent to 27 millions of devices each 3 months, twice as many iPhone Apple managed to sell over the same period. Android has climbed the rankings and was ranked second in market share.

Google's strategy for the mobile industry seems to be right just because the trust has secured some of the major handset manufacturers, Smartphone e tablets.

Android has nothing to envy to that proposed by Apple, Nokia, Rim e Microsoft, and plus it's free, Android operating system is not subject to any license fee. This enables handset manufacturers to pass on models on the market with a profit margin higher than that achieved with models “normal” with proprietary systems like Microsoft, Symbian about Apple.

Google is not interested in earning sull'harware but on services like advertising as witnessed by Susan Wojcicki, senior VP di Google, Ad Mob, service equivalent to AdSense, said that manages more than one billion queries per day.

The 9 the most anticipated features in Android Gingerbread 2.3

November 24th, 2010 No comments

1. Video chat
“Perhaps the highlight (we can confirm so far),” said Kennemer Quentyn a Phandroid.com, “will support video chat using the same protocols for video chat Google Talk”. Now, Google may try to convince hardware manufacturers and smartphones to put a camera on the front of the terminals.

2. Stream music from your home computer
Users will be able to stream music from your home computer for their hardware, as said Marin Perez a IntoMobile.com. Details on how to achieve this are approximate, but Google bought a company called Simplify Media, and always according to Perez, Google “will use this technology to enable streaming of all your unprotected music to your Android”. Google gave a sneak peak this feature in May.

3. Android Market Music Store
For users who do not have a terabyte of music at home for streaming, Android Market also offers music. “One interesting thing,” Perez has bloggato, “is that Google has said that the market will be much more than applications, as you will soon be able to buy music from it”.

4. Google TV
Google owns YouTube. “Lean Back”YouTube is a version of which opens in full screen mode the game continues and announcements. Speculators expect Gingerbread can take advantage of YouTube Lean Back “features” for YouTube videos, as well as integration with Google TV service.

5. New User Interface
The most critical part is the user interface of Android (UI), too awkward. Each version of Android has attempted to address these problems the user interface should follow this trend and Gingerbread. In reality, gingerbread should have a new user interface cleaner, more fluid and with the redesigned icons. The applications will be more integrated into the operating system. Kennemer said the YouTube application will be one of the first to get this new treatment.

6. Voice Over WIFI
If the rumors are true, Google has added the protocol (SIP) Google Voice in its application to allow users to receive calls to their number of Google Voice over Wi-Fi and cellular. This could be a nice feature for users of Android without a voice plan with a cellular phone operator.

7. Improving Copy and Paste
Anyone with a Droid know that the copy and paste is a bit primitive. In Android 2.3 promise (do not know how) to improve significantly.

8. WebM
And ‘provided that Google includes a container of open source video formats WebMate in Gingerbread. Google boughtOn2 Technologies all'inizio of 2010 and with it obtained the VP8 video compression format open and open source. In May, the company launched Project WebMate in an attempt to impose VP8 codec as default HTML5. It is logical that Android can take advantage of WebMate and VP8.

9. New animation “Off Screen”
